How do I know what my PIN and PUK code is?

Mobile Phone Pin and PUK codes

PIN stands for Personal Identification Number. A PIN code can be used for security reasons, if you enable PIN protection on your handset, you will need to enter the PIN code each time you switch your mobile on.

Each mobile phone network sets the PIN number of their SIM cards to a standard default SIM number as below. You can change this via your handset if you wish.

IMPORTANT WARNING: DO NOT guess your PIN number or enter the same wrong code consecutively - as if you enter the wrong code 3 times, the SIM card will be blocked and you will require a PUK code from your Network/Service Provider.

The standard default PIN codes are:

O2: 4321
T-Mobile: 1210
Vodafone: 0000
Orange: contact Orange
Three: contact Three

If for any reason the code is not accepted the first time you enter it, please contact your Network/Service Provider to check your PIN code - as you do not want to block your SIM card as you will be unable to make or receive calls/texts. Please note that we are unable to provide you with a PIN code other than the default one shown above. What is a PUK code?

PUK stands for Personal Unblocking Key. If you have entered you're PIN code incorrectly 3 times your SIM card will be blocked and you will be unable to make and receive calls/texts.

You will need to obtain the PUK code from your Network/Service Provider - you will need to confirm some personal details for security reasons before they will issue you with a PUK code. Please note we are unable to provide you with a PUK.

Important warning: do not try to guess a PUK code. If you enter PUK code 10 times incorrectly you will block your SIM card completely and will have to buy a replacement SIM card from your Network provider.

What shall I do if I accidentally blocked my PIN code?

If you have entered your PIN code incorrectly 3 times you will need to contact your network provider to obtain a PUK code. Do not try to guess a PUK code. If you enter PUK code 10 times incorrectly you will block your SIM card completely and will have to buy a replacement SIM card from your network provider.

What is the security code of my phone used for?

A security code is used to protect your phone against unauthorised use. The phone will ask for the security code whenever a new SIM card is inserted into the phone. Additionally it is required for the use of some functions of the phone.

The default security codes from manufacturers are as follows:

Nokia: 12345
Sony Ericsson: 0000
Motorola: 1234
Samsung: 00000000
LG: 0000

If the make of the handset is different from those stated above, please contact your network provider for further instructions.

Why should I insure my mobile phone?

We strongly advise to purchase an additional insurance which will cover your handset in case of non warranty issues. Your handset is covered by manufacturer's warranty for manufacturer's faults only. In case you accidentally damage your phone by dropping it or in case of liquid damage, the repair of the handset is chargeable. By taking out the insurance cover you will protect your handset against the accidental damage, liquid damage, theft and unauthorised use.
